Safe Art
Art should be a joyous activity for your children! However, we’ve heard the all too familiar story about toxic toys and products getting into the hands and homes of our children. To give you confidence that your child can safely create art, please review the tips below.
Since all art tools are not created with the same standards of quality, Abrakadoodle established a partnership with Crayola and makes use of these safety-proven products in our classes that serve children ages 20 months to 12 years old.
Regardless of what brand you choose, make sure the art materials in your household:
- Have the AP seal for non-toxicity and quality,
- Conform to ASTM D-4236 (This is a US labeling regulation),
- Are washable. Look for washability information on the packaging, and
- Are age-appropriate for your child. Check age range on the packaging.
Also make sure that you:
- Provide a space with proper ventilation,
- Teach your child to properly care for products, and
- Teach your child to clean up after completing an art project.
